On Wednesday 21 February, the Fourth Form went to see a production of Macbeth at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford. Once inside, our 144 Fourth Formers seemed to take up most of the theatre, but there were also plenty of students from other local secondary schools in attendance.
This particular production stayed true to Shakespeare’s language but was a modern adaptation. The highlight of the performance was when Mr Witts appeared on stage as a guest at Macbeth’s coronation dinner. There were also some commendable fight scenes which had the boys on the edge of their seats. The trip was a good opportunity for our students to see the play live and will serve as a reminder of the characters, plot and themes, and led to some interesting discussions.
