Last week, the Third Floor came alive with the vibrant and diverse celebrations of Languages Week, and it was an absolute success. With 14 different activities organised, students enthusiastically participated, filling the classrooms with curiosity during lunchtime. Our aim was to offer pupils a fun and immersive experience of different languages and cultures, and they certainly received just that.
The weekโs events were a variety of exciting activities that gave students a taste of global traditions. In the Danish cafรฉ, students enjoyed a lively snap card game, while others tried their hand at Japanese origami, learning the art of paper folding. Those interested in food tasting were treated to a range of cultural delights, one example being Arabic cuisine. The students also enjoyed experiencing German-inspired Oktoberfest activities including gingerbread decorating.
The French breakfast cafรฉ provided a fun experience where students were served by waiters all while practising their French speaking skills. Students listened to a Chinese Autumn festival talk which gave insight into this major cultural celebration. Sports enthusiasts enjoyed a taste of Spanish football where they announced their predictions in Spanish. Outside of the Football screening, students enjoyed watching films in different Modern Languages.
