This week, RGS Prep came together to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week, embracing the theme of Respect through engaging and meaningful activities that promoted kindness, empathy and understanding across the school.
The week began with Odd Socks Day on Monday, where pupils and staff wore mismatched socks to celebrate their unique differences and individuality. The school buzzed with colour and excitement as everyone embraced the message that being different is something to be proud of.
On Wednesday, pupils took part in Anti-Bullying Workshops run by West End in Schools, using drama to act-out bullying scenarios and discover effective ways to resolve conflicts. Through role-play, they practised empathy, respect and active bystandership, empowering them to stand up against bullying in real life.
The week wrapped up with Friendship Photobooth Friday, where pupils enjoyed dressing up in costumes and posing for fun photos with their friends during lunchtime. It was a great celebrating of the joy and strength of positive relationships.
Head of RGS Prep, Mr Freeman-Day, reflected on the week, saying:
“This year’s Anti-Bullying Week, with its theme of Respect, was a resounding success. Our school community came together to promote a culture of kindness, empathy and understanding. We take bullying seriously every single day, but this week allows us to focus on how we can prevent it from becoming an issue at any point in a child’s educational journey.
Key takeaways for the boys included understanding what bullying is and isn’t, the importance of treating others with respect and how active bystandership can make a significant difference. My thanks go to Mrs Self and the pastoral team for putting this week together.”
Through these enriching activities, we reinforce our commitment to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for every pupil.
