The CWIZZ

The CWIZZ is an annual literary quiz for Years 5-8, run entirely by a group of authors. Until now it has been London-based, but when the RGS team won the coveted shield at Emanuel School last year, it was suggested that we host a brand-new Surrey CWIZZ.

With the support of West Surrey Partnership, 92 children from 12 other schools joined 8 RGS boys in the Undercroft for a fantastic afternoon of quizzing, author talks and book signing. After questions on the themes of Red, How does your garden grow?, Sidekicks and Side Characters and Cats and dogs, and the fiendish Under Cover round, interspersed with talks, spot prizes and a well-needed refreshment break, Tormead School emerged victorious, with GHS Juniors winning the KS2 cup. Everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves; here is a sample of the feedback received from schools:

“Thank you so much for including our pupils in the CWIZZ. It is the kind of event that our pupils really don’t get the chance to be a part of. They loved every single part of it – an extra
excitement being the rather fabulous snacks that were delivered to the table.

“We are very excited to have won an author visit – what a thrill!”

“I wanted to say a huge thank you for organising the CWIZZ last Friday. It was such a successful event, and my girls all had a lot of fun, they didn’t stop talking all the way home.”
