We were delighted to host students from our sister school, RGSG Nanjing, for a week-long visit that celebrated cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and the strong ties between our two schools. This visit provided a valuable opportunity for students and staff to engage in meaningful interactions, fostering a spirit of global learning and friendship.
Our visiting students were warmly welcomed into the homes of RGS Guildford families, allowing them to experience British life through a homestay programme. This initiative not only helped them immerse themselves in a new culture but also created lasting friendships between families and students from both schools.
Throughout the week, RGSG Nanjing students took part in lessons alongside their peers at RGS Guildford, engaging with both senior and prep pupils. This gave them the chance to experience the British education system firsthand, share perspectives on learning, and develop new skills in a collaborative setting. They also had the privilege of meeting with our Headmaster, Dr Cox, and the Head of RGS Prep, Mr Freeman-Day, to discuss the shared values and educational ethos that unite our schools.
Beyond the classroom, our visitors explored the historic town of Guildford and learned about the rich heritage of RGS Guildford as the founding school of the international RGS family. They also spent time with our youngest pupils, reading stories and playing games, fostering a sense of community across all age groups. Additionally, they led assemblies, sharing insights into life in Nanjing and providing our students with a fascinating glimpse into their culture and daily experiences.
This visit was far more than just an academic exchange; it was a testament to the strong partnership between RGSG Nanjing and RGS Guildford. Through these visits and other joint initiatives, our collaboration continues to flourish, reinforcing our commitment to global education. As the visit came to an end, it was clear that the friendships, experiences, and learning gained over the week would leave a lasting impression on all involved, and we look forward to future collaborative events.
