Charities

RGS Guildford is rooted in the heart of our community and for us collaboration, service and partnership are a natural part of our philosophy as an institution which has been established in the centre of Guildford for over 500 years.  We foster a culture in which our students appreciate their responsibility to other members of their community and society as a whole. From the very earliest years, our students are equipped with an appreciation that they can truly enrich the lives of others as well as their own.

Charity

Our charitable initiatives broaden our students’ appreciation of the world beyond the school gates and allow them to put into practice values such as empathy and compassion, perspective and real-life experiences.

Our students learn more about the work of the charities we support through visits from our charity partners and broaden their understanding of the needs of others both close to home and around the world. Every year we support a number of charities chosen annually by the School community.

Through activities such as House fundraising, a charity bake-off, environmental projects in local parks, or reading poetry to residents at local care homes, our students appreciate that they can make a tangible difference and that, by helping others, they can truly enrich the lives of others as well as their own.

Volunteering

RGS students generously volunteer their time and talents to raise funds for our nominated charities and to assist with our primary school enrichment projects and to serve our local community both during dedicated time during each week and through their leisure and holiday time.

Some of the volunteering initiatives our students take part in include:

  • Sixth Form students coaching sport;
  • Running a chess club, providing maths enhancement sessions and delivering Technology lessons to local primary school pupils;
  • Visiting local nursing homes to spend time and share stories with residents.
