At RGS Prep, respect is at the core of our sports philosophy. Our specialist sports staff aim to maximise participation and support individual ambitions. We strive to encourage a lifelong love for sport and a genuine understanding of the importance of staying active for a happy and healthy life.

Muddy Stilettos 2024In competition, while the boys are encouraged to do their best and play well, there’s an expectation that boys are humble, gracious honest, self-disciplined and respectful.
Nursery to Year 2
Pupils enjoy weekly sport lessons where our specialist staff nurture pupil’s enthusiasm for sport and focus on developing skills such as agility, balance, coordination and speed. They take part in a range of activities from foam archery to tag rugby, gymnastics to cross-country, cricket to football.
Year 3 to 6
The sport curriculum aims to develop all key fitness components such as speed, stamina, flexibility, balance, coordination, muscular endurance, agility and reaction time. With a wide range of both major and minor sports, there is something for everyone.
Students from Year 3 are invited to represent the school on:
- Rugby tours;
- Football tours;
- Cricket tours;
- Watersports
- Skiing trips;
- Whole-Year outdoor activity stays.

Sport at RGS Prep is fun, challenging, and inclusive – the perfect physical complement to our academic standard. Beyond the curriculum, there are ample opportunities for pupils to take part in House and extra-curricular sport, including clubs and competitions.

Our pupils go to the local leisure centre, Spectrum, for swimming lessons and use the Lido for our annual House Swimming Competition.
